Quirky Fact #1:

Steve Jobs had an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder with this weight. He would live on carrots and apples for weeks together and as a result of that his skin would turn sunset orange.

Quirky Fact #2:

In his 9th grade, Steve Jobs wired his house with speakers. Since speakers can be used as microphones too, he built a control room in his closet. He would often listen to what was happening in other rooms and once when he was eavesdropping his parent’s bedroom he was caught by his father who angrily demanded him to dismantle the system.

Quirky Fact #3:

He had the attitude that he could do anything and once when he was driving on the highway with his ex-girlfriend he put her behind the wheel and shifted the car till they got to 55 miles per hour and then put on a tape of Dylan’s “Blood on the Trunk”, lay his head on her lap and went to sleep knowing the fact that she had never been on the drivers’ seat before.

In the words of his ex-girlfriend : “He put his life in my hands. He made me do something I didn’t think I could do.”

Quirky Fact #4:

He was a Fruitarian and only ate leaves plucked by Virgins at Moonlight.

Quirky Fact #5:

When Steve Jobs had to recruit people for his dream project “Macintosh”, he would bring the candidates into a room where the prototype of the Mac was covered by a cloth, dramatically unveil it and watch the reaction of the candidates.

If their eyes lit up, if they went right for the mouse and started pointing and clicking, Steve would smile and hire them. He wanted them to say “WOW”!

Quirky Fact #6:

Steve Jobs had decided with his buddy Stephen Wozniak to start a business and they needed  a name. Jobs had gone for his usual visit to the All One farm where he used to prune Apple trees and was picked up by Wozniak to the airport. On the way they were considering options of typical tech words, such as Matrix, Executek, and some straight forward boring names such as Personal Computers Inc. The deadline to decide the name was the next day and Steve was on one of his Fruitarian diets and he had just come back from the apple farm. He on an impulse decided and told Wozniak that we will name our company as “Apple”.

In the words of Steve, ” It sounded fun-spirited and not intimidating and plus it would get us ahead of Atari ( one of the close contemporary of Apple) in the phone book “.

Quirky Fact #7:

He was such a perfectionist that he had trouble buying furniture and so his homes throughout his life were empty spaces. He would sit on the floor to read the paper or study when he needed to.

Quirky Fact #8:

There was an article which Stephen Wozniak’s mother had left on the kitchen table for her son which talked about how hackers and phone phreakers had found ways to make long-distance calls for free by replicating the tones that routed signals on the network. Wozniak immediately called his buddy Steve Jobs and both of them went to the Stanford Linear Accelerator Centre Library which had the technical journal revealing the tones used by the phone network’s call-routing switches. They developed the Blue Box and wanted to test it by calling Wozniak’s uncle in Los Angeles to see if it worked. They got a wrong number but it didn’t matter, the device had worked and they shrieked, “Hi! We’re calling you for free! We are calling from California for free!”.

They ended up making many more blue boxes and selling them thus forming the first ever business partnership between the two which later went on to form the foundation of the World’s most Innovative Company APPLE”.

He was undoubtedly a crazy guy doing crazy stuff and invented crazy technologies making us all go crazy about Apple’s products.
